FCA Golf Scramble Fundraiser
Marla VanDuser • August 5, 2020
FCA Lee County hosted a golf fundraising event in Estero, FL on Friday July 31st, 2020.
We raised over $8k! A special thank you to Old Corkscrew Golf Club, Mega Graphx, Estate Landscaping and Lawn Management by Triple J Inc., Pure Florida, J.W. Marriott, The Colony, Twin Eagles, The Gulf Coast Inn, Chris Wentworth (our board member), and Mary Shea for their sponsorships to help make this tournament possible. FCA Lee County used a new company called Glide Golf to run our tournament. Glide Golf does all of the work to run the tournament including online registration, an online silent auction, and signs for sponsorships, and advertising. We highly recommend them for anyone wanting to host a golf fundraiser. For more information on Glide Golf, visit Glidegolf.com. We had 52 golfers participate in the tournament including some of our staff - Coach V, Drake Sallin, and Jeremy Breitag as well as board members - Kheri Schaar and family, Mark Cangiano, and Adam Davis.
We plan on having another tournament next year and look forward to making this an annual fundraising event. If you missed out on this event or would like to give to our mission, visit out donate

FCA Lee County Blog
This has been quite the unexpected year. From disappointments to surprising new ways to pursue community, we’ve navigated quite the rolling landscape. But this year has also brought us together in great and genuine ways, allowing for more connections to be made than ever through virtual platforms. We’ve taken solace together in canceled seasons and remained hopeful for what’s still to come. We’ve continued to give 100% in our sport, teams and faith through the unchanging guidance of God. In the middle of such constantly changing times, there are a few things that stay the same: God’s Word, our call to be disciples who make disciples, and our need to grow in our faith. For 65 years, FCA has been engaged in sports ministry, constantly innovating to effectively reach the changing landscape our coaches and athletes experience. As we look at the new reality of off-site ministry, we want to seize the opportunity and build momentum in a new, digital era. Bottom line: we want to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. And we want to equip coaches and athletes to make the most of this unprecedented time to get creative in staying connected with their teams. It’s in these days where we need each other the most, and that’s why FCA is introducing #FCAvirtual, an online and social media initiative to rally coaches, athletes, and staff around the incredible stories of what God is doing through virtual FCA ministry. Creating a Virtual Community FCA Lee County has communicated with athletes and coaches through Zoom. Our Lee County staff have done weekly bible studies with coaches from schools across Lee and Collier County. Our staff have also done one-on-one mentoring with coaches and athletes to help them grow in their walk with God. With most campuses not allowing visitors, we have had to fins local churches or other locations to meet with our huddles. Estero High School has been meeting with Legacy Church in Estero. The small group is being led by Youth Pastor Brandon Catron, Character Coach Matt LeLeivre, and our FCA Lee County Director, Kevin VanDuser, aka Coach V. This past Sunday morning, 2 of Estero High School students from our small group were baptized at Summit Church in Estero, FL. Praise God! For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. -Isaiah 43:19 There has never been a better time for God to reach the hearts of His children than now. We are all in this together and we want to see what God is doing around the world through His #FCAvirtual movement!
